Developer selected for $300 million toll road project

AUSTIN – In an effort to bring traffic-congestion relief to more than 52,000 daily drivers in Tarrant, Ellis and Johnson counties, the Texas Transportation Commission today chose Lane-Abrams Joint Venture as the developer to provide corridor improvements on SH 360. The project will construct a 9.2-mile toll road between existing SH 360 frontage roads south of I-20.
“In response to local requests for a solution to traffic congestion, we are excited to partner with the North Texas Tollway Authority to provide Texas drivers with much-needed relief,” said Texas Transportation Commissioner Victor Vandergriff. “Local leaders in this area have been united in this project being their top priority for decades.”
Under the partnership, TxDOT will develop, procure, initially finance and construct and maintain the toll lanes and frontage roads of this portion of SH 360 for five years. An option to continue the maintenance for two additional five-year terms is available. Once built, the NTTA will operate the tolled main lanes.
This initial phase of the SH 360 project will build the main lanes from the end of the current highway at E. Sublett Road/W. Camp Wisdom Road to US 287 as a four-lane toll road. The project also will construct a northbound frontage road (non-tolled) from Heritage Parkway to US 287 and portions of the US 287/SH 360 interchange including frontage road bridges over the US 287 main lanes. The $300 million project will deliver continuous, non-tolled frontage roads throughout and will be constructed through a design-build approach providing needed safety improvements, congestion relief and greater economic development.
The Lane-Abrams Joint Venture is a team comprised of AECOM Technical Services, Inc., Blanton & Associates, Inc., CSJ Utility Coordinators, LLC, Fugro Consultants, Inc., Hayden Consultants, Inc., Infrastructure Corporation of America, K Strategies Group, LLC, Michael Baker Jr., Inc., Pinnacle Consulting Management Group, Inc., Rios Engineering, LLC, Rodriquez Engineering Laboratories, LLC and SE3, LLC.
Construction is slated to begin in the fall of 2015 with the roadway completed by late 2017/early 2018.
