Mansfield is getting another big box retailer. Sam’s Club plans to open a Mansfield location by the end of the year, creating approximately 175 jobs.
The building will occupy approximately 128,000 square feet at the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 287 and FM 157 in an existing shopping center and near a Lowe’s. Within a few hundred yards is the standard Target SuperCenter, Home Depot and Best Buy commonly found in suburban areas.
“We’ve experienced some growth and the market is right for it,” said Richard Nevins, Mansfield Economic Development Corp. spokesman. “We’ve had a lot of retail come into the market. Mansfield is just the right place to be.”
Sam’s Club spokesman Mark Scott said in a news release that the company has listened to its members and determined “this is an excellent location.”
Mansfield Sam’s Club will be the 22nd in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Sam’s, headquartered in Bentonville, Ark., currently has 75 locations in Texas.
Sam’s also plans to open locations in La Marque, Harker Heights, Houston, Abilene, and Corpus Christi this year. La Marque will open March 21, Scott said.
